Chipmunk Cheeks

I am 2 days post a quadrupal wisdom teeth extraction and I am fairing much better than I had initially thought I would. I had myself prepared for the worst, after hearing so many horror stories from friends who had their wisdom teeth taken out.

I went in for the procedure on Friday morning and within an hour I was done and out of the chair. I choose to have only Novocaine for the procedure and I don’t regret this decision. Since having the procedure I have been following the doctor’s instructions of alternating Ibuprofen and the prescribed pain medicine every 3-4 hours and this seems to be working well, as I have not had any pain. 🙂 The worst discomfort I am having is…my checks are so swollen, it is actually hard to open my mouth to eat. This has been a little annoying, but if this is the worst I am thankful for it.

My hope now is for the swelling to go down to some form of normal….so I can go back out in public.

I am also so thankful to my very wonderful husband who had taken care of our two daughters and me 100% since Friday without one complaint! He is amazing and I am so grateful for him! I love you, Shawn!

Lately, Addison has been walking around the house singing ‘all the single ladies, all the single ladies, all the single ladies’ from “All the Single Ladies” by Beyoncé. It is really quite cute, I only wish I had a video of it. I, of course, enjoy a good laugh every time Addison sings it….while Shawn rolls his eyes and chuckles.

Jalopee

My comment about life’s road trips, couldn’t help but resonate in my head for the remainder of the evening yesterday and even as I lay in bed last night. After the girls went to bed, Shawn retreated to his favorite place in the house…the garage to work on what I call ‘the jalopee’. The jalopee is better known as a 1971 Chevelle, which Shawn purchased shortly before he and I meet and had hopes of restoring the car some day. After many years of sitting in either our garage or storage, Shawn’s dream has come true and he has been working on restoring the car for the past couple of years. The car still has a way to go but I can see progress every day. When the ‘jalopee’ is no longer a ‘jalopee’, we look forward to long drives and much enjoyment of the open road.

Today is my husband, Shawn, and my 8th wedding anniversary. We have traveled many paths, some which have brought us much joy and happiness and some which have not taken us to where we intended to go. However, through all of this we have stuck together and enjoyed the ride…and we look forward to our lifetime of road trips.
